Alkmaar City Walk
Do the 3.6 kilometre city walk and allow yourself to be delighted by the best that Alkmaar has to offer. Alkmaar boasts a rich history and no less than 400 cherished monuments in the old city centre. Enjoy a break on a terrace or browsing in great stores during your walk.

Around Alkmaar Route
This cycle route gives you a choice between a long or short and southern or northern version. A northern 28-kilometre route takes you through picturesque Langedijk and a southern 21-kilometre route runs through the forest at Heiloo. Hardcore cyclists can also combine the two routes and enjoy cycling through two completely different landscapes. This route runs through the centres of the Langedijk horticultural villages and along the banks of the Geestmerambacht recreation area. Furthermore, you will cycle through the Heiloo forest and past Onze Lieve Vrouwe ter Nood chapel.

Brede Duinen Route
This route gives you the option between a 35 or 47-kilometre route. The route passes through the beautiful dunes and forest of the Schoorlse Dunes and through the green meadows between Alkmaar and Bergen to the Hondsbossche sea wall. Pass beautiful architecture, art and nature on the way.

Bulb Fields and Dunes Route
This 40-kilometre route passes through the bulb fields and dune region between Egmond and Castricum. During the flowering season (April/May) you can cycle beside a colourful patchwork of bulb fields, and even during other months it is still worth cycling on this route past fields, villages and through the dunes. An admission ticket is required (€1.70) for part of the route that passes through the dunes between Castricum and Egmond. The ticket can be purchased from VVV Alkmaar or the agency in Castricum. It can also be ordered via the Myorder App.

Leeghwater Route
During this route you will cycle 4 metres below sea level. You will cycle 44 kilometres through the most unique polders from the Golden Age: the Schermer and Beemster. The route is named after Jan Adriaanszoon Leeghwater, the hydraulic engineer who supervised the creation of these polders. Enjoy an exceptionally beautiful part of the Netherlands where the 17th century windmills are still fully operational. The route passes along long, straight roads and ditches and winding dykes to picturesque villages such as De Rijp.
